Through international exchanges, educational mentorship, and community partnerships, Brighter Futures helps Cambodian students explore opportunities beyond their classrooms and build meaningful connections across borders.
International Educational Exchange
Creating Opportunities Across Borders
Brighter Futures began with a plan to bring one Cambodian student to the United States for a short-term educational exchange. After contacting more than 30 schools and programs, arranging English lessons, supporting passport and visa preparation, and securing preliminary school approval, the student's U.S. visa was denied. Rather than ending the initiative, we developed an alternative exchange in South Korea, opening the experience to ten Cambodian students.
- Coordinated with 30+ schools and educational programs during initial U.S. exchange planning
- Arranged English lessons and ongoing educational preparation for the initial participant
- Supported passport applications, visa documentation, and student travel preparation
- Adapted the exchange plan after the U.S. visa denial
- Collaborated with Cambodian and South Korean schools, teachers, and community partners
- Organized fundraising, travel logistics, educational activities, and cultural experiences
- Successfully coordinated an educational exchange for 10 Cambodian students in South Korea from August 25 to September 2, 2026
Study Buddy
Offline AI Learning for Low-Resource Classrooms
Study Buddy is an offline AI-powered learning device designed to make educational support more accessible in classrooms with limited internet connectivity. In July 2026, six devices were delivered to Vision School in Cambodia for classroom demonstrations and testing.
- Developed an offline AI tutoring system using Raspberry Pi technology

- Presented the initiative to representatives of the Korean Embassy in Cambodia and KOICA

Summer Medical Volunteer Trip
Where the Mission Began
Every summer, Sieun's family travels to rural Cambodia to provide free medical care for patients who lack access to basic healthcare. These annual trips are the origin of Brighter Futures — a firsthand reminder that healthcare access and education access are inseparable.
